Emma's Halloween Costume

I bought this fabric a while ago, intending to trim it and turn it into a full Indian princess outfit with a variety of fabric, but yesterday I just took the full length of fabric (A half yard) and folded the top part over so that it was almost halfway folded, then I pinned it at both ends and the middle. Then I hemmed it with a straight stretch stitch and tied it in a nivi-style sari (I got the insructions from The Daring Book for Girls). Her choker is my Indian ankle bracelet, and her ornament is a chandelier earring. For Halloween I am going to be an Ancient Greek and wear the chiton from that book.
I think we will look quite nice!!!

My Fourth of July Cake

Here is my July 4th cake.
I actually made it on July 2nd so it was not a 4th cake originally
but it is so appropriate.
I am, in fact, going to make another for our Independence Day dinner.
I love this cake- it is so gorgeous and perfect-looking.
Yes, it's me posing with it.
A Happy Fourth of July to everyone & God bless America!

polka dot cake

Some pictures of the cake I made for Mardi Gras.
It is a yellow cake with buttercream frosting.
I used a Martha Stewart template and sugar crystals to decorate.
It wasn't that hard to decorate but time-consuming.

More Photos

Here are some photos of my collection "Summer On Coney Island- 1942". My doll Emma Elizabeth Genovese is modeling them. The first one- the one with the black-and-white stripes- is called "Cocoa". The second one is called "Provencal Ticking". I did not make the cardigan she is wearing with them, but I sewed both of the skirts. They are a very simple style that I call "drawstring waist"- it is a pencil skirt with a drawstring at the waist that makes it adjustable.
